One of the main inspirations behind the Knickerbocker Mfg. Co. name was the New York Knickerbockers, a NY baseball team that was one of the first to play under a set of rules similar to today's. In 1849, they were the first team recorded wearing baseball uniforms.
It's no surprise then that we take some inspiration from vintage baseball uniforms and players alike. "Shoeless Joe" Jackson is one of the legends of the game, however, he is largely remembered for allegedly participating in the Black Sox Scandal where members of the team conspired to fix the 1919 World Series. He was banned from playing in the league in 1920 despite a record breaking performance in the 1919 season.
His innocence in the scandal has been widely debated but his significance to baseball cannot be. Nevertheless, we're more concerned with his inspirational style and the uniforms. Take a moment to go through the images above, there is no shortage of character in "Shoeless Joe's" persona.
